Kirsten Mitchell BSc Hons Practice Manager

Kirsten studied Business Management and Equine Science at The Royal Agricultural University. 

Kirsten has always had a passion for working within the Veterinary Industry, combined with 10 years experience in managing teams. She was previously a practice manager at another local veterinary practice and then went onto being the Operational Support Manager at Hamilton Specialist Referrals, before joining Castle vets as the Practice Manager in June 2022. 

Kirsten joined Castle Vets due to her interest in working with a team who are looking to provide 5* patient care and are able to treat a huge variety of cases. Castle Vets being a perfect fit being an RCVS accredited practice, with a large and experienced team, including some vets with postgraduate certificates and a European Specialist in Small Animal surgery. Castle vets is also able to utilise the team's expertise with some state of the art Veterinary equipment often only seen within referral centres such as the CT scanner, Endoscopy and Rhinoscopy, alongside the digital x-ray, ultrasound scanner and inhouse lab. Kirsten's focus on being able to offer the best and all round care for patients is also enhanced by the experienced nurse team who can assist with clinics such as grooming clinics, weight clinics and behaviour clinics and also physiotherapy and a reception team who want to show their compassion for the patients and their owners at often a difficult time. 

Kirsten has a Ragdoll cat called Pearl that lives with her and then she also has a number of animals that she takes care of on her family farm including Sheep, 4 Border Collies and a Clydesdale horse. 

In her free time she enjoys swimming, sheepdog training, helping with lambing season and horse riding.
