Hospitalisation/Overnight Care

Hearing that your pet needs to stay at the veterinary practice can be worrying

Hearing that your pet needs to stay at the veterinary practice can be worrying, especially as your pet is usually with you all of the time. We would like to reassure you that your pet will receive the best possible care while he or she is staying with us.

Castle Vets is host practice to the out of hours provider Vets Now.

This means that pets requiring care outside our surgery opening times are monitored and cared for throughout the night, at weekends and during bank holidays, here at the practice, without the need to transport them to and from another building.

Please note that Vets Now is a separately run business with its own fee structure and that you will receive a separate invoice for any care undertaken out of hours. Vets Now will also complete and submit a separate insurance claim for you, to include their own costs.

Cat Kennels

We have large spacious cat kennels for any overnight patients.

This large Maine coon is demonstrating how spacious they are.

Who will be looking after my pet when Castle Vets is closed?

The Castle Vets team hand over to Vets Now Emergencies at 7:00pm on a weekday evening and 1:30pm on Saturdays.

Your pet’s vet will discuss his or her particular needs and the treatment or medication they will require with the Vets Now vet, ensuring that their care is continuous.

In addition to giving the necessary medications, treatments and exercise, the Vets Now vets and nurses also offer the same level of attention and care that the Castle Vets team would give your pet.

Your pet will be regularly monitored and examined as necessary and you will be notified immediately of any change in his or her condition, should it arise.

Is it possible for me to visit my pet?

Having visits from their owners can certainly aid recovery and is especially important for pets that need longer stays.

Our visiting hours are:

Monday to Friday (by appointment)

  • 1:00pm – 3:00pm
  • 5:30pm – 6:30pm

Saturdays (by appointment)

  • 10:00am – 11:00am

If you cannot visit your pet during these hours, please do discuss this with a member of staff.
