An ECG is used to help diagnose and monitor conditions of the heart
This is used to record the rate, rhythm and electrical activity of the heart over a period of time. Electrodes are placed on the skin to detect the tiny electrical changes from the heart during each heartbeat.
The heart is monitored and the results are recorded of time and the results are printed onto a graph or displayed on a monitor for the veterinary staff to read and interpret.
Because the ECG is a non-invasive test, patients do not need any form of sedation or anaesthesia to have this performed.
